Asseco supports lonely youth
When COVID-19 took over the world in the beginning of 2020, no one knew what to expect. Unfortunately, many businesses had to let employees go and fight to stay above water. In private homes, isolation and days without physical contact became the new normal.
Asseco has been lucky. Even though COVID-19 hit us hard, our employees have been fighting a brave battle and we are entering 2021 with a positive mindset. This would not have been possible if it were not for every single member of our team. From management to consultants, developers and assistants, everyone has been standing metaphorically side by side and fighting for a positive result.
We know that the pandemic has been a difficult time for many, but we also know that for some COVID-19 has hit even harder. Not just financially but mentally as well. Therefore, we who have managed to get through COVID-10 somewhat mercifully wants to give back to where it is most needed.
Asseco Denmark is a workplace where a very large amount of our employees are young. This makes it natural for us to think about the younger generation in these times. Young people between the ages of 15 and 30 are unfortunately overrepresented in statistics about loneliness in the Danish population. Self-isolation, online teaching and bans on gathering have not lowered the statistic – quite the contrary.
For this reason, Asseco Denmark have chosen to donate 10.000 DKK to Ventilen Danmark. Ventilen is a nationwide organisation with 23 local offers within 21 citites, which serves the purpose of preventing and helping loneliness among young people. Every single offer is run by volunteers, who creates safe and homey environments. After joining Ventilen, 76.4% feel less lonely and 75.6% feels their self-confidence has been given a boost and have a greater faith that other people like them.
Loneliness is not a taboo and we hope our donation can help some of the young people who have suffered this year.
